“Way of Life” Charitable Foundation is the only organization in Armenia that focuses specifically on the health needs of children with epilepsy and complex neurological conditions. The foundation provides support with access to essential medications, advanced diagnostic procedures (such as MRI, EEG, PET-CT), genetic testing, and surgeries.
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological condition often characterized by involuntary limb movements, eye twitching, and recurring episodes of loss of consciousness, which may sometimes be accompanied by seizures.
Seizures are caused by excessive electrical activity in the brain, which can lead to temporary loss of consciousness.
Common signs of epilepsy include:

Seizures

Vacant or blank stares

Restlessness

Loss of consciousness
March 26 is observed as World Epilepsy Day.
Since 2008, March 26 has been recognized as World Epilepsy Day, also known as Purple Day.
The idea was initiated by Cassidy Megan, a nine-year-old girl from Canada living with epilepsy.
By the age of nine, Cassidy had already experienced discrimination and prejudice from both adults and her peers because of her condition.
To break the myths surrounding epilepsy, Cassidy decided to raise awareness about herself and others living with the condition. She wanted to highlight that epilepsy does not mean intellectual disability, that it is not a life sentence, and that discrimination against people with epilepsy must end.
The causes of epilepsy are diverse. In about 40% of cases, the exact cause remains unknown.
In other cases, epilepsy may be triggered by factors such as brain injury, stroke, infections, brain tumors, genetic factors, and more.
